Dragmag is a sweet spark in mag country, try to get one, not easy cause pretty popular

Founder Oskar Oprey did an excellent job creating this magazine. In his own words: "dragmag is a new bi-annual art and fashion magazine, flitting from trash to high-art, gutter to en-suite: no room for mediocrity."

He tells me about the new issue;
"Here's Dragmag Issue 2, which finally came out today after a long wait. The whole idea behind the project is that each issue 'drags up' as another kind of publication. This issue pays homage to paranormal magazines such as The Fortean Times, so there's a 'strange but true' theme running throughout the magazine.

This is our first fashion cover, although the model has no body on which to display clothes (the lipstick is by Chanel though). I was browsing through old sci-fi posters with Dragmag's fashion director Kieran Partise, looking for inspiration. We stumbled upon an old B-Movie from 1962 called The Brain That Wouldn't Die, about a demented scientist who keeps his wife's decapitated head alive after a car crash. The poster is amazing, so we decided to completely recreate it.

We worked with a young photographer called Grant Thomas, who at age twenty is already making quite a name for himself. The set designer Eoin Dillon constructed the laboratory table in our friend's studio, whilst make-up artist Marco Antonio and hairstylist Craig Marsden added the glamour. Everything is real - the only photoshopping involved was to enhance the colours. So like in the original film, our cover star (Robin from Select) had to literally stick her head up from underneath the table. We actually had real trouble getting a model, as most of the agencies thought it was a terrible idea - but I could see their point, it's not often that fashion magazines want to behead their cover girl.

Our back cover is by Kenneth Stanton, and features our trademark octopus bursting through an old photograph of Prince Eddy, Queen Victoria's troubled Grandson. He was believed to have died from syphilis, contracted from either a prostitute or another man, and some even believe he was Jack the Ripper. I considered him a very fitting star for our rear view."
