Very first cover design at Billboard from Josh Klenert. Illustration by Ellen Weinstein which won a Communication Arts illustration award with this Billboard magazine cover.
Design director Josh Klenert explains to me: "I was asked to transform Billboard into a vibrant magazine that spoke to the music industry but also had consumer newsstand appeal. We tended to create celebrity based covers and business topic based covers."
