contratiempo is a magazine in Spanish published in Chicago. This issue is devoted to the topic of Art and Immigration.

Art Director Olivia Liendo explains to me: "The illustration is an original art work by Duncan Tonatiuh. Tonatiuh was born in Mexico City and grew up in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He received his BFA from Parsons School of Design and his BA from Eugene Lang College, both of them divisions of the New School University in New York City.
Duncan says about his work: "Ancient Mexico is my inspiration but I use tools of our digital world to give the topics a contemporary sensibility".
