Sports Illustrated asked readers for its 60th anniversary cover to submit photos of themselves playing a sport, being a fan or wearing their favorite team’s gear.

1,596 photos were used in a photomosaic recreation of SI’s first cover, from Aug. 16, 1954, which featured Milwaukee Braves third baseman Eddie Mathews, New York Giants catcher Wes Westrum and umpire Augie Donatelli.
